BEVERAGE CAN PRINTING TRENDS
BEVERAGE CAN PRINTING TRENDS
Some trends in the craft brew space regarding cylindrical objects include highly creative, more attention-getting, colorful graphics; limited edition brews; and personalization for corporate and social events and festivals. As the numbers indicate, consumers are looking for a product that stands out the most when shopping for a brew. That same 71% of consumers who are drawn to unique graphics also decide which beer to buy at the point of purchase. Differentiation with colors and packaging techniques is more important now than ever.
This method of printing also enhances marketing campaigns in support of another trend: more frequent small-batch, limited-edition brews. Giving craft brewers the flexibility to experiment with different brews enables them to better test the market.
Finally, direct-to-object printing allows brewers to further explore new markets, such as the growing personalization market. Once dubbed the official brewer of a particular event, the brewery will then be able to produce a custom label for the event. This also holds true to corporate events. Consumers are looking for customizing products and direct-to-object printing furthers these capabilities.
DIGITAL PRINTING MACHINES FOR CANS
Generally speaking, there are two different types of cylindrical direct object printing systems on the market today. Firstly, there are high-end cylindrical inkjet printers that are very expensive and highly complex. Only a few manufacturers are the target of this type of equipment; They are usually companies that print large quantities of products. There are also small and medium-sized cylindrical inkjet printers, which are very suitable for companies that produce approximately 300 to 600 units per hour,
These printing machines are very suitable for environments where most jobs involve small to medium-sized printing and frequent graphic changes. This is also where we enter the market. We have a series of dedicated high-speed digital drum printers that can consistently produce high-quality, excellent graphics that consumers like, and have the flexibility that brewers seek.
In our opinion, cylindrical printers that directly target objects are necessary for this job and are specifically built. An alternative to direct object-oriented printing is shrink sleeves, which are currently popular in small and medium-sized printing with relatively short turnaround times. Although this process is effective for some people, it cannot provide the same level of design ability or visual appeal. For example, shrink sleeves produce a glossy appearance that is less attractive to certain companies. It also does not allow floating graphics or other design elements to help the product stand out. When using shrink tubing, the scrap rate is also high, which can be attributed to folding or creases, resulting in reduced production and product loss.
Shrinkage sleeves have not addressed the sustainability aspect that consumers are increasingly choosing. In Europe, there has been a recent issue related to the recycling of aluminum containing plastic. For example, the Netherlands imposes higher fees on recycling aluminum containers with plastic labels to reduce the number of products decorated with such products.
Standard digital printers use CMYK color models, which can also include orange and green. These machines are well-equipped and can reproduce high-quality graphics with accurate and consistent quality colors. They can also provide uniform adhesion for aluminum, stainless steel, iron cans, and plastics.
